Aeron Prime

Sector 111
Aeron System (System 47409)

Aeron Prime (Grid 97): The homeworld of the Aeronii. A pelagic planet, the ancient Altian colonists who became the Aeronii colonized the millions of islands on Aeron Prime, named for the Celtic god of war. They developed biological traits and techniques to survive under the sea. The ancient Aeronii built nation-states and empires on both the islands and underwater in sprawling cities formed from fast-growing coral. The limited terrestrial resources led to scientific breakthroughs. The semi-aquatic Aeronii are connected with the sea making them natural environmentalists. Aeronii art expresses fluidity and interconnected ideas. Aeronii poetry is known for its lyrical cohesion and its intellectual depth.

Aeron Prime's major cities (the Seven Jewels) include:

Aeris: The only fully terrestrial major city and Aeron Prime's largest is located near the ruins of an early Altian colonial landing site, the sacred Tomb of the Lost. Patron city of the planets Riven and Myst.
The Marshal's Palace, the Great Aeronii Conclave and the Aeronii Fleet Headquarters are located in the city, making it the de facto capital of the Aeronii.

Lorthaen: The military headquarters of Aeron Prime. Lorthaen Academy trains Aeronii's military officers.
In the history of the ancient Aeronii, the rivalry between the militant Lorthaen Empire and the aristocratic Aerisii Empire dictate the course of the planet's strife. The parity kept the two city-states rivals until the Tir Haeronii Rebellion succeeded is weakening the Lorthaens. Patron city of the planets Mon Calamari and Taer Lorthaen.

Traellia: The semi-aquatic industrial heart of Aeron Prime is rich with resources. In the history of the ancient Aeronii, Traellia supplied a great deal of the raw minerals and materials for weapons manufacture at Lorthaen and technology development at Aeris and Tir Haeron.
Traelli's major trading partners were the Lorthaens and Aerisii, although the city supported the Tir Haeronii Rebellion against the Lorthaens, breaking millennia of tradition of supporting the Lorthaen faction against Aeris. Patron city of the planet Hephaestus.

Raeynard: The major Aeron Prime art colony, located just south of the equator. Raeynard has been home to the greatest Aeronii poets, writers, artists, and architects. In most of the ancient wars, the city supported their patrons in Aeris.
Patron city of the planet Kalapis.

Raethoya, located at the center of an ancient trade post, Raethoya is now the main starport and trade city. The city switched sides between Aeris and Loerthaen, depending on trade and commcercial concerns. Patron city of the planet Biscardis.

Maethos Anon: The submarine capital city of one of the smallest major nation states located between the empires of Aeris, Traellia and Lorthaen, Maethos Anon struggled to maintain its sovereignty in Aeron Prime's turbulent early history. Maethos Anon developed an extensive espionage network that made it one of the most politically powerful states on the planet. Maethos Anon’s diplomatic corps and Waer Jaedi’s monks later helped pacify the planet and unify the Aeronii. Patron city of the planet Reoq Bax.

Tir Haeron: A former satellite state of the Lorthaen Empire, the Tir Haeronii were intellectuals and scientist whose rebellion led to a spirit of anti-authoritarianism and experimentation. Patron city of the planet Ixia.
The success of the Tir Haeronii rebels against Lorthaen broke the Lorthaens' hegemony, leading to a gradual rise of Aeris and the eventual pan-Aeronii peace brokered by Waer Jeadi and Maethos Anon.

Although not one of the Seven Jewels, Waer Jaedi, is the religious holy city of Aeron Prime built on the ruins of the first Altian colony on Aeron Prime, and is mentioned as the eighth great city of Aeron Prime.
Waer Jaedi remained neutral and independent throughout Aeronii history. The city served as a meeting ground for the planet’s warring factions. Patron city of the planet Calphi Bax.
The monastic tradition of the Waer Jaedi permeated Aeronii culture. The Waer Jaedi faith is the only one with significant numbers off Aeron Prime, as the city sends its monks to training monasteries on world throughout Aeronii space and its master monks to serve communities on its colonies.

Other sites include:

The Tomb of the Lost: The only Altian colony ship that did not successfully land but instead crashed into the surface of Aeron Prime near where the city of Aeris was founded. According to legend, the survivors felt the were chosen to survive on their new world despite all the odds, leading to a gradual rejection of traditional Altian mythology and the formulation of the existenial atheism particular to all Aeronii religions.

Island City: The deepest city on Aeron Prime serves as the primary geothermic power station for the planet. The bottom sections of the city reach into the deepest trench on Aeron Prime, more than 2 kilometers beneath the surface. The upper reaches of the city break the surface and rise almost a kilometer above the Raenon Sea, south of Raethoya.

Caeroni: A floating city that orbits the equator. Caeroni serves as an intermediary spaceport. Due to the stunning views of the surface, Aeronii diplomats and politicians use the city to entertain foreign diplomats and visitors.

Hephaestus

Sector 111
Aeron System (System 47409)
Hephaestus (Grid 85): The first off-world colony of the Aeronii. The harsh atmosphere was once toxic to Aeronii, so habitats were built beneath large domes or underground.
The Hephaestians are a hard-working, prideful tribe of the Aeronii hardened by the harsh environment. The Hephaestians are generous to guests, but wary of outsiders. Clannish and loyal, the Hephaestian accent is thick and raw, often hard to understand by outsiders unfamiliar with the dialect of the city-state of Traellia.
The planetary seal of Hephaestus places the planet's name between two arcs to symbolize the mining resources of the planet. The top arc symbolizes the planet shipping resources to the rest of Aeronii space.
The Hephaestian capital city of Tir Maexos began as a simple unmanned mining facility on the surface, watched over by a manned space station.
The first colony beyond Aeron Prime was populated by 312 miners and refinery workers, 22 scientists and six administrators. led by Col. Faelix Otraen. The colony flourished and within 20 years, more than 10,000 people called Tir Maexos home.
Otraen Tower in the center of the city governs the planet.

The sprawling city of Taer Itraenus is the jewel of Hephaestus. The city was the heart of the terraforming project on Hephaestus and the Environmental Academy of Sciences is situated near the initial colony site, now a museum. The population is environmentally conscious and spearheads efforts to reclaim the planet from past damage caused by the first refinery projects on Hephaestus.

The largest refinery in Aeronii space is located in the metropolis of Otraen, the city that 80% of Hephaestian refinery workers call home. The city is named for Col. Faelix Otraen, first administrator of Tir Maexos and later Viceroy of Hephaestus.

The Midlevels of Otraen is a single factory city generating all the materials from raw ore mined from across Aeronii space.

Using geothermal power, the subterranean refineries of Otraen are located three kilometers beneath the city surface.

The planet's factories were built in the open space with the exhaust pumped unregulated into the atmosphere. As Hephaestus' population grew and Aeronii technology improved, Ixian scientists terraformed the planet. Nearly a century of raw pollution provided a greater challenge than simply the natural atmosphere.
The pollution produced by the massive Thaernon Refining Installation was deemed to
significant to maintain across the planet, so the planetary engineers choose rather to dome the facility and filter the pollution inside the dome instead.
Capital: Tir Maexos

Ixia

Sector 111
Aeron System (System 47409)

Ixia (Grid 204): Founded as a predominately Haeronii scientific colony, Ixia or "Ix" to locals, clings to its scientific heritage. The Ixians are the most noted scientists and educators among the Aeronii.
The Ixian cities are vast technological achievements highlighting stunning architecture. More scholars and university professors come from Ixia than all other Aeronii colonies combined.
Haelix Raes is the capital city, located along in Dhaeris Valley as it spills out into the Sea of Maerk.

Chasm City: The city is home to the Aeronii Physics Academy and the Subatomic Particle Accelerator. Unusual for Aeronii cities, the city is built kilometers high but on a narrow parcel of land between to cliff faces.

Tir Maeris: Located just north of the Arctic Circle, the city is home to the Tir Maeris Institute for Chemistry.
To conserve heat and power in the polar environment, the city exists as one single building, one of the largest structures in Aeronii space.
The city serves as a model for other major projects in Aeronii space. The Aeronii by nature, are a friendly, family-orientated people who value cultural exchange, the arts, and communication. These traits are heightened in Tir Maeris due to its unusual structure. The distinctions of property, class, place, and location are fuzzy at best, as neighbors exist in three dimensions rather than two. The close-knit culture of the city lends itself to strong community development, which fosters artistic expression and cultural awareness. It also tends to mean that Tir Maerisii have little use for personal space and are adept at tuning out distractions, learned from dealing with noisy neighors to the left, right, above and below. As such, many Tir Maerisii are excellent soldiers and law enforcement officers due to their ability to ignore distractions in the heat of combat or police actions.

Navigation within the structure takes place across bridges between vertical city blocks. While other Ixians and Aeronii see the Tir Maerisii as forward and often overly friendly, this also lends itself to a strong sense of community awareness and involvement that Tir Maerisii find lacking in other cultures of their people.

Caethlis: Designed as a museum for the architecture of the Altian Tribe and the human race, the city's skyline is reminiscent of all the technological achievements of ancient Earth. Notable schools in the city include the Aeronii School of Architectural Design, the Ixian Institute of Modern Architecture, the Caethlis Comparative Architecture University, the Ixian Campus of the Altian Architects Guild, and the Ixia Academy of Architecture Arts.
The interschool rivalry leads to some of the most innovative designs in Aeronii architecture
.

Taer Maexlon: The major schools are the Aeronii Fleet Starship Academy and the Taer Maexlon School of Ship Design. The planet of Mon Calamari and the Aeron Prime city state of Lorthaen are the patrons of Taer Maexlon.

Taer Raellia: Small campuses of the Biochemistry & Biophysics Universities are spread throughout the city of Taer Raellia. The students of the Ixian Biology Institute regularly traipse out into the countryside to study the unique lifeforms of Ixia.

Gyin Ukae: The Gyin Ukae Mechanical Engineering School builds most of Aeronii robotics while the Ixian Droid University and Aeronii Droid Educational Factory build and train military and civilian droids.

Haelix Marr: Lorthaen sends its best military specialist and tacticians to the Marrian Game Theory Academy.

Haerliji: Power stations and relays are spread throughout the city, home to the Haerliji School Electrical Engineering, the Biocomputer Institute of Ixia and the Aeronii Computer & Technology University.

Bhaendon: Some of the best Aeronii minds attend the Aeronii Mathematics Academy (AMA) or the Bhaendon Institute of Technology (BIT) with tuition paid by the Ixian government.

Muushi: The city of Muushi and the planet Myst jointly run the Muushian Psychic Training Academy & Research Center.

Haelix Raes: The Aeronii Weapons University specializes in mechs, planetary fighters and bombers and hand-held and starship weaponry.

The Ixian dialect is most like Haeron’s, noted for its multi-syllabic words and its often complex nouns and adjectives.
Capital: Haelix Raes

Mon Calamari

Sector 111
Aeron System (System 47409)

Ixia (Grid 291):
Founded by Aeronii from the city states of Raethoya and Lorthaen, Mon Calamari is the major fleetyard in the Aeron System. The major fleetyard is the Calamari Belt, a massive ring that orbits the equator.
While Aeronii joined the military from all over Aeron and the colonies, the Lorthaen warrior code and its harsh dialect dominate the culture with short nouns, vibrant verbs and an emphasis on efficiency and brevity.
Capital: Akbar

Mola Bax

Sector 131
Mola Bax System (System 51015)
Mola Bax (Grid 136): The first colony of the Aeronii outside the Aeron System, colonized on 7105.48. Mola Bax was one of eight worlds gifted by Temujin, Protector of the South West Empire
. The first 10,000 Baxian colonists were equally comprised from 1,250 representatives of the Seven Jewels of Aeron Prime and 1,250 warrior monks from the holy city of Waer Jaedi.
The colonists founded the primary and capital city of Tir Baxia along the coast. The city comprises monuments and skyscrapers duplicating some of the famous landmarks of the Seven Jewels of Aeronii Prime. The Waer Jeadian Korlashi Temple.
As the first colony outside the home system, the Baxians engendered a spirit of independence in their population. The Baxians are among the most socially liberated and politically liberal peoples in Aeron space. The planetary government provides nearly all of the population's goods and services, paid for by some of the highest taxes among the Aeronii. While commercial interests are slow to headquarter on Mola Bax, those who do are rewarded by loyal, sedate employees with virtually no labor strife. Artists also flock to Mola Bax because the welfare state provides for basic needs, allowing Baxian artists the freedom to create.
The Baxian dialect incorporates a liberal use of new nouns and verbs. The equal mix of native Aeron Prime cultures consolidated more efficient elements of the homeworld's regional dialects - such as the Raethoyan tendency to accent the second syllable in imperative and declarative sentences - and removed more cumbersome constructions, - such as the word endings of Aerisii to indicate the status of family members, friends or strangers referred to in third-person singular, or the Lorthaenii's extra third-person plural tense for dead, historical and theoretical figures.
The Baxian accent is noticeably foreign to other Aeronii for several reasons: the distance from the home system created dialect changes in different directions from Aeron Prime, the need to communicate across provincial and cultural lines, and the forced integration of eight divergent peoples created a new tongue that could be easily understood by all Baxians. Native Baxians have a pidgin Aeronii, "Aebax" to speak to off-worlders, known among the Baxians as "Aebaxii."
The planetary seal of Mola Bax is a stylized image of a panther, the symbol of Mola Bax, seizing a star in it's jaws, representing the Baxian grasping liberation through space travel.
Capital: Tir Baxia.

Calphi Bax

Sector 131
Mola Bax System (System 51015)
Calphi Bax (Grid 174 ):

The second colony of the Aeronii outside the Aeron System, colonized on 7105.48. Calphi Bax was one of eight worlds gifted by Temujin, Protector of the South West Empire.
Calphi Bax was colonized by Waer Jaedi, a holy city of Aeron Prime built on the ruins of the first Altian colony on the Aeronii homeworld.

The Waer Jaedi monks themselves quickly built monasteries across the planet attempting to find the most
Unlike most Aeronii colonies that begin with a single spaceport which lead to apportionment of the planet's best land for further settlements and farming communities, the Waer Jaedi monks who first arrived left only a small, rudimentary spaceport populated by non-religious Wear Jaedian and Aerisii civilians. The monks themselves spread out across the planet to find remote locations for their monasteries.

The major cities include:
Cor Nexi: The spaceport city and de jure capital. Moisture farms are scattered around the city for thousands of kilometers. The eastern farms border the western side of the Dhumras Dune Sea, notable for the purple sands caused by the sea's mineral deposits.

Kalexis: The southern spaceport that houses Calphi Bax's militia and military infrastructure. The city is build into a cliffside, making the city hard to detect from orbit. The starport maintains a detachment of Aeronii troops from Lorthaen but the majority of the planet's defenses are provided by Waer Jaedian monks trained as elite soldiers.

An Jaen: Largest seaport on the Errix Sea, the largest of the three small seas on Calphi Bax. The port also serves as the only gateway to the monastery of Aerstead.

Otto: A "cleansing city" for visitors wishing to speak with monks of the various monasteries, with the exception of Rhatho ul Hagren, the planet's main monastery, and Tir Aerondis, a cosmopolitan monastery. Visitors must remain in the city for at least 12 days -- the length of time it takes to convey personal messages across the wastes on Calphi Bax -- and be granted access before being allowed to leave the city by shuttle.

The major monasteries include:
Rhatho ul Hagren: Head of the the Ul Hagren monastic sect of Calphi Bax, spiritual center of the Mola Bax system, and de facto capital of Calphi Bax. Of the major sects on Calphi Bax, the Ul Hagrenii see themselves as the servants of the Aeronii. After training and mastering Waer Jaedian martial arts, the Ul Hagrenii monks serve local governments as diplomats, peacekeepers, judges and emissaries.

Mojan jo Khann: Head monastery of the Jo Khann monastic sect of Calphi Bax. The monastery is located on the eastern side of the purple sands of the Dhumras Dune Sea. After decades training and mastering the Waer Jaedian martial arts, Jo Khannii monks leave their monasteries and spend the rest of their lives serving as nomadic Aeronii peacekeepers.

Daerlis jo Toc: A hidden monastery located in the Canyons of Haedron. Access is restricted to those led by Daerlisii guides.

Caemron ul Maek: A monastery specializing in the training of Waer Jeadian warrior monks.

Maxtho ul Hagren: The northernmost monastery on Calphi Bax, located a rock outcropping between the Tyraez Dune Sea and the northern polar ice cap.

Maegron ul Hagren: The twin monastary of Maxtho ul Hagren, located along the southern polar ice cap on the shores of Lake Ujon.

Tir Aerondis ul Ib: A monastery that trains Wear Jeadian monks for other Aeronii colonies. The most cosmopolitan of the monasteries on Calphi Bax. The Tir Aerondisii live among mundane Aeronii with the belief that the only way to properly understand the people they must later serve is to train with them nearby.

Naen ul Monaes: Head of the Ul Monaes monasteries, located on a mountaintop overlooking the narrow belt of jungle along Calphi Bax's equator.

Aerstead jo Niali: A monastery located on Arenti Island in the Errix sea, 740 kilometers away from the seaport of An Jaen.

Bhar jo Khann: A Jo Khann monastery located on a mesa in the midst of the Jaermor Dune Sea.

Fhae Naevos jo Ib: A collective colony of monks spread throughout the cavernous Dol Muraeth Mountains. Served by a small army of initiate servants who take vows of silence, most of the senior monks can go years without seeing another person's face or hearing another person's voice.

Baeron jo Kam: Head of the Jo Kam monastic sect, a breakaway sect of Jo Khann. The monastery floats above the Raenon Sands.
The Calphi Baxian accent is distinctly Waer Jaedian. The dialect is known most for its airy pronounciations of typical Aeronii words and the speakers' curious tendency to speak in parables, paradoxes and contradictions.
The planetary seal of Calphi Bax depicts the desert planet superimposed by two stylized crests of the purple sands of the Dhumras Dune Sea, which is bordered to the east by the moisture farms or Cor Nexi and to the west the monastery of Mojan jo Khann.
Capital: Cor Nexi
